Welcome to my site! If you don't know me: I facilitate groups to co-create arrangements that make their joint system better able to deal with complexity. Networks of policy makers are capable of designing their own collaborative arrangements, but practical problems and traumatic experiences may stand in the way. Removing obstacles can restore the flow of knowledge, enabling collaboration. (Find some examples here.)

As consultant I am affiliated with the Spread your Wings network and the Erasmus University Rotterdam. I am also parttime international secretary at the Netherlands Commission for Environmental Assessment (NCEA). Earlier, I was also academic and civil servant (advising the national government about its internal organisation ), and occasional trainer at University of Twente and NSOB. Since 1990, about half my working time was in or for developing countries.

I arrived here via biology, environmental assessment, environmental governance, the organisation of the Dutch government, and governance for sustainable development. Based in The Netherlands, I have done work in 51 countries.

Please note that NCEA-work on environmental, social and collaborative governance to which I contributed between 2012 and 2021 is mostly published by the NCEA (mostly under Mali, Senegal, Benin and Guinea).
